Volunteers Believe People Can Make A Difference - And Are Willing To Prove It

EAA AirVenture Museum Docents

Our Museum Docents come from all walks of life, professional and non-professional. Although it's not required, many of those who fill this role are retired and enjoy the camaraderie of other Docents. Most importantly, they bring a variety of talents, skills and interests to the program. There's no need to be an aviation expert to play a vital role in this activity, training is provided. Some ways that you can participate:

  • Greet visitors and provide important information about the EAA AirVenture Museum
  • Distribute appropriate literature on EAA membership and education programs
  • Participate in the annual EAA AirVenture convention
  • Drive the tram (shuttle) to transport visitors to Pioneer Airport and spend some time outdoors.
  • Serve as a tour guide for scheduled group tours

Meet new friends and Museum visitors from all over the world as an AirVenture Museum Docent. Contact Mary McKeown at (920) 426-6880.

Museum Collections Volunteers

Volunteer opportunities of many types exist in the Museum Collections department. Short-term help is useful in late July and late August to help position collection aircraft before and after AirVenture. At other times, most projects require a minimum two-week commitment. Projects can often be tailored to suit the volunteer's interests and/or capabilities. Contact Ron Twellman at (920) 426-5917.

Maintenance Volunteers

Accomplish the myriad of tasks needed to keep the equipment and grounds in the conditions EAA strives to maintain. Farmers, mechanics, carpenters, groundskeepers and many other skilled volunteers are necessary on a year-round basis to prepare EAA's spectacular site. Contact the South Maintenance Department at (920) 426-6813.

Pioneer Airport Volunteers

The Golden Age of Aviation is still alive at Pioneer Airport. Take a trip back into history as a volunteer at this 1920's and 30's style grass strip airfield. Open from May through October, volunteers promote "grassroots" aviation through a variety of ground support operations. Contact Kathy Hanson at (920) 426-6135.

Kermit Weeks Hangar Volunteers

Share the satisfaction of helping restore and maintain the flying aircraft of the EAA collection. Antiques, Classics and Warbird aircraft are kept flying with the support of EAA's volunteer hangar crew. Contact John Hopkins at (920) 426-4875.

Library Volunteers

The EAA Library is looking for a few good women or men to volunteer in the library. Volunteers should be able to operate a computer and be familiar with Windows and MSWord. It would also be useful, but not necessary to be able to navigate the internet.

Projects include working with the EAA Corporate Archives, photo archival storage, inventory of donations, book inventory, newsletter filing, and photo copying old newspapers. If interested, please contact: Susan Lurvey, EAA Library/Archives Manager, at (920) 426-4848.

AirVenture Convention Volunteers

Share the adventure of the world's most significant aviation event. All interests, experience and skills can find enjoyment as an EAA AirVenture convention volunteer. Contact Convention Headquarters at (920) 426-6542 or visit our AirVenture web site for a listing of all volunteer opportunities.

Headquarters Office Volunteers

Enjoy the satisfaction of helping EAA headquarters' staff in serving our more than 170,000 members worldwide. A variety of clerical projects await office volunteers: bulk mailing projects, data entry, filing, stuffing binders and folders. Contact the Human Resources Department at (920) 426-6281.
